“CSR is the continuing commitment by business to behave ethically and contribute to economic development while improving the quality of life of the workforce and their families as well as of the local community and society at large.”
Since opening in 1987 London City Airport has developed a wealth of relationships with local communities and contributed significantly to the regeneration of East London. Through regular engagement and communication with local stakeholders, the Airport provides an open channel of communication with those living and working nearby.
We believe that being a good neighbour or corporate citizen is not an alternative, a challenge, or a distraction from being an outstanding airport – it is an integral part of being an outstanding airport.
We are a multi-award winning airport and our success is in large part, thanks to the support of the local community and the airport’s commitment to the community is as strong now as it was in 1987.
We remain focused on contributing to children’s education, empowering communities and preparing residents for work and below are key the areas that make up the airport CSR strategy.
We aim to raise levels of aspiration amongst young East Londoners by engaging them creatively through a range of activities such as tailored education programmes, partnership working and careers awareness days. Click here for some of the key education-related programmes that we currently deliver
We aim to provide pathways into employment for local East Londoners through bespoke programmes designed to raise awareness, up-skill and secure opportunities. Click here some of our key employment related programmes.
We pride ourselves in being a good neighbour by helping to promote, support, champion, and elevate local good causes across a number of areas including community engagement and empowerment, arts, health and sports.
