London Underground trade unions are planning a 24-hour strike on the Tube from 18:30 on Wednesday 5 August. If the strike goes ahead, Tube services will stop running from 18:30 on Wednesday 5 August until Friday 7 August. There will be no Tubes on Thursday 6 August. We are expecting normal service to resume on Friday. London Underground, Overground and TfL rail services are also set to run as per usual but are likely to be busier than normal. All passengers are advised to check their journey before they travel and allow additional time to get to their destination.

London City Airport is the only airport actually located in the heart of London - less than 5 minutes from the world-class events venue ExCel London, 17 minutes from the site of the 2012 Olympic Games and Westfield shopping centre, 14 minutes from Canary Wharf (home to many of Europe's top companies), 22 minutes from the City of London (London’s financial district) and 30 minutes from London's West End (Houses of Parliament, the Millennium Wheel, the River Thames and so on).
London City Airport is now the best connected airport in the UK. A Docklands Light Railway (DLR) station is located next to the Terminal entrance, making transport to and from the Airport fast and convenient for all passengers.
The DLR departs London City Airport every 8 to 15 minutes with journey times of less than 7 minutes to Canning Town or Woolwich Arsenal.
51% of our passengers use the DLR service when commuting to and from London City Airport. Other transport options include taxis, car hire and buses.
A licensed taxi rank is located directly outside the Terminal with up to 400 taxis in the morning rush hour. London City Airport and Heathrow are the only London airports to offer the official London black taxi. Fares from London City Airport to the City are about 50% cheaper than from Heathrow. London City Airport has also partnered with mincabit to provide a online pre-book minicab service, for a quote click here.
There are fast road links to and from the Airport with two car parks right next to the Terminal (Short and Main Stay). For directions and to plan your route to the airport click here.
