Lufthansa Brings A Burlesque Revival To London City Airport With Launch of Berlin Tegel
Monday 14 January saw the launch of the new twice-daily Lufthansa service to Berlin-Tegel from London City Airport. The inaugural arriving flight touched down at 0910 and was met by a fantastic performance from burlesque model Cherri Shakewell.
The model gave a ‘terminal-stopping’ performance, popping her balloons whilst dancing in a giant Martini glass erected in the middle of the terminal concourse.
The service from London City Airport will be the fastest connection available for passengers travelling between the centres of both cities. Richard Gooding OBE, Chief Executive of London City Airport said “We are proud to welcome the new Lufthansa Berlin-Tegel service. The connection to Germany’s capital is the perfect addition to Lufthansa’s growing network from London City Airport”.
"Today, Lufthansa has become even more attractive for its customers in the UK. Both the business and the leisure travellers will now have a speedy city-to-city connection to either take advantage of Berlin's growing function as an exhibition hotspot or to just discover its cultural attractiveness," said Dr Karsten Benz, Vice President Sales and Services Europe at Lufthansa. "The new service is as well another important milestone in our long lasting relationship with London City Airport."
Berlin is the fifth Germany city served by Lufthansa from London City Airport and complements existing routes between Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Munich.
One-way fares to Berlin-Tegel in Economy Class start from £45, while return fares will be available from £79 including taxes and charges. Miles & More members can earn double miles on all London City to Berlin flights until 14 April 2008.
