12 August - a new partnership between London City Airport and Streetcar offers all the convenience of owning your own car, but without the cost and hassle.
Streetcar, the largest car club in the UK, has over 500 cars parked in dedicated spaces across London which now includes the Short Stay car park at London City Airport. Streetcar members can go online or telephone to book any of the fleet of Volkswagen Golf cars from their most convenient location, providing a cost effective alternative to car ownership and help to reduce our impact on the local global environment.
Research has shown that every car club vehicle replaces around 20 privately owned cars owing to the fact that each Streetcar has on average 40 users. Not only does this scheme reduce pollution by reducing individual car usage, it also ensures that drivers are using a modern, fuel efficient and properly maintained vehicle.
Richard Gooding OBE, London City Airport's chief executive, “at London City Airport we welcome schemes such as Streetcar. This is a convenient and environmentally friendly option for our local community, staff and passengers, making the airport even more user friendly””
Streetcar is taking place as part of a wider environmental enactive by London City Airport. The commitment to developing a greener strategy includes focusing on renewable energy, recycling and reducing waste, energy and water consumption.
