British Airways to Bring Even More Fun to Fun Day

Date: 15/05/2008

This year’s major sponsor of the London City Airport Fun Day, British Airways, is bringing a spectacular show to Newham. The BA Village, located at the east of the arena, will host an assortment of activities guaranteed to thrill the younger audience at Fun Day.

The British Airways community team will be out in full force on the day, giving children the opportunity to dress up in BA uniforms and participate in a variety of fun activities as well as have their photo taken with pilots in front of a British Airways BAe146 aircraft.

The theme for this year’s Fun Day is ‘festival of fun’. British Airways is flying in an army of entertainers from around the world to ensure the most possible fun at the festival. Dancers from the world-famous Turley Academy School of Irish Dance will be the main attraction with performances both at the BA Village and later on the main stage at the west of the Fun Day arena. Traditional Brazilian drummers will conduct a workshop at the BA Village alongside a group of dancers from the East that will encourage visitors to move with the Bollywood beat.

If all this excitement gets too much, visitors can splash around in the wet area where British Airways’ technical team will be on hand with a fun child-friendly aircraft de-icing vehicle that sprays plumes of water into the air.
With all these activities and yet more to be announced, the BA Village will be a popular attraction at this year’s annual Fun Day.

London City Airport thanks its major sponsor, British Airways. The airline operates ten routes to various UK & European destinations from London City Airport, Newham’s largest private employment site.  In addition to the London City Airport Fun Day, British Airways supports over 130 projects worldwide within five themed priorities: education and youth development, supporting employees, sustainable tourism, environment and heritage.
