London City Airport 26th Anniversary
London City Airport recently celebrated 26 years since Her Majesty the Queen officially opened the airport on 5 November with a huge runway birthday cake.
Over the 26 years London City Airport has gone from strength to strength, seen more than 1 million flights and close to 40 million passengers. Being located in the heart of London and just three miles from Canary Wharf and seven miles from the City, the airport is the first choice and ideal for London business travellers, which represent 60% of London City passengers.
This year the airport is on track to see it’s highest ever passenger numbers with eight new destinations being added and an application for planning permission being submitted to develop the current infrastructure. The proposed plans for the future will enable the Airport to create 1,500 new jobs, welcome next generation aircraft and double passenger numbers by 2023.
