- Demand for stronger business links between London’s financial district and Scandinavia leads to SAS consolidating its London City Airport services

- One way fares from only £58.00 including taxes -

London, 29 March 2007: Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS) today announced a further expansion of its London network with a new double daily service from London City Airport direct to Oslo, Norway. The new service marks the completion of SAS’ services from London’s City Airport to the Scandinavian capital cities. At present SAS offers a double daily service from London City Airport to Stockholm and three daily services to Copenhagen.

From 28 August 2007 the airline will operate the new double daily return service from London City to Oslo Gardermoen. The route will be operated by SAS Braathens, the Norwegian arm of the SAS Group. All flights will be operated by an 82 seater Avro 70, 4 jet engine aircraft. One way fares start from only £58.00 including taxes.

SAS operates a unique one way fare structure, meaning that customers can mix and match the airports they travel from. SAS customers can choose to fly out of London City and return via Heathrow according to which airport is most convenient for their home or office.

Economy Extra provides SAS customers with an efficient service which includes business class check in facilities and fully flexible fares with no restrictions. Economy Extra passengers are seated in a dedicated area between the business and economy sections, they receive a complimentary meal with drinks and can earn extra frequent flyer points.

London City Airport is one of Europe’s fastest growing airports for business travel and operates an impressive minimum check-in time of 20 minutes before departure as well as a five-minute plane-to-taxi policy, allowing travellers to transfer from the flight to their onward transport in record time.

Commenting on the introduction of the new service from London City to Oslo, Lars-Ove Filipson, General Manager United Kingdom & Ireland, Scandinavian Airlines System said:

“SAS’ London City to Copenhagen and Stockholm services have proven exceptionally popular among London business travellers, especially those working in the Canary Wharf and City districts. We are delighted to be consolidating our links from London City Airport to Scandinavia’s financial centres with the introduction of our double daily service to Oslo. The brand new service to Oslo will serve to compliment our existing services to Stockholm and Copenhagen and provide an important link between London’s core business district and the economies of Scandinavia.”

Richard Gooding, Chief Executive for London City Airport said: “Existing SAS services from London City Airport are drawing increasing business from our neighbouring business communities and we are delighted that SAS has affirmed it commitment to London City with the introduction of the airline’s new direct service to Oslo. London City Airport is exceptionally well positioned to facilitate links between the London business community and those of Scandinavia’s three capital cities. SAS is the number one carrier in the Scandinavian market and the fact that the airline has chosen London City Airport to expand its network is very encouraging.”

London City Airport is located on the doorstep of London’s financial district, and provides quick and efficient services for business travellers located in Canary Wharf, the City, East London, and the surrounding Westminster and central London catchment areas.
