Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS) celebrated today as the airline’s inaugural flight from London City Airport direct to Oslo took to the skies. The new double daily service demonstrates SAS’ commitment to strengthening business links between London’s financial district and Scandinavia.
Commenting on the introduction of the new service from London City to Oslo, Lars-Ove Filipson, General Manager United Kingdom & Ireland, Scandinavian Airlines System said: "SAS’ new London City route to Oslo is the next logical step following the positive performance of the London City to Copenhagen and Stockholm services. These routes have proven exceptionally popular among London business travellers, especially those working in the Canary Wharf and City districts. The new service to Oslo complements our existing Scandinavian offering at both London City Airport and Heathrow which no other airline can match, ensuring SAS is the airline of choice for travellers flying to Scandinavia, and beyond."In addition to the new Oslo service SAS offers a double daily service from London City Airport to Stockholm and three daily services to Copenhagen.
SAS will operate full business and economy services on all flights, in addition to its unique premium economy service, Economy Extra. Economy Extra provides SAS customers with an efficient service which includes business class check in facilities and fully flexible fares with no restrictions. Economy Extra passengers are seated in a dedicated area between the business and economy sections, they receive a complimentary meal with drinks and can earn extra frequent flyer points.
Increasing choice for travellers further, SAS operates a unique one way fare structure, meaning that customers can not only mix and match fares, but also choose their preferred London airport. For instance SAS customers can fly out of London City and return to Heathrow according to which airport is most convenient for their home or office.
