Children attending the summer tennis camps at Langdon City Tennis Club have been protected from the elements by a donation from London City Airport.
Marquees and windbreakers installed by the airport have been shielding budding tennis stars from the summer sun (and rain!) in the recent unpredictable weather.
The children, who range from six to 18 years old, take much-needed breaks under the marquees to recuperate, ready for their next set of tennis.
Pat Hector, Langdon City Tennis Club Development Officer said, “we rely on support from local businesses and the marquees are a perfect addition to our equipment which enables us to runs such a popular tennis club. The marquees will be used come rain or shine!”
Elizabeth Hegarty, Community Relations Manager for London City Airport said, we are glad to support such innovative projects as the Langdon City Tennis Club. On a recent visit I saw lots of great talent and real potential from children of all ages. With the level of coaching and encouragement the children receive at the Langdon City Tennis Club we may have some real Wimbledon star developed within our borough”.
As well as running a summer tennis school for six to 18 year olds the Langdon City Tennis Club is open throughout the year for people of all ages and abilities.
