London City Airport IT infrastructure Award for Innovation

London City Airport was recognised for its implementation of a Micro DataCentre at the recent Datacentre Leaders’ Awards 2008 ceremony. The award commends the state-of-art technology put in place by the airport. In winning the award the airport beat other three other candidates - Sun Microsystems, De Montfort University Leicester and London Borough of Hillingdon.

Jason Bamforth, ICT Director for London City Airport said “We are delighted to win this prestigious award, it's immensely rewarding and reassuring to know that a panel of independent industry judges commends us so highly. This is a significant move forward in our IT strategy that enables LCY to provide high availability IT services to our customers and staff"

Zahl Limbuwala, Chairman, Data Centre Specialist Group at the British Computer Society (BCS) oversaw the judging process. He said: “The judging panel of industry experts were rigorous in their approach and all of the awards were hotly contested”
