The deadline for entries is fast approaching for the 12th Annual Art Awards, sponsored by the London Borough of Newham. All artwork must be received between 23-27 March 2009.
This years theme is health, sport and fitness and residents who live in the vicinity of the airport are invited to submit an entry following their artist interpretation of the topic. The winners will be announced at a reception taking place at the airport at the end of April. The lucky winners will receive £500, £300 and £200 for first, second and third prize. Three runners up, selected as Highly Commended will each be awarded signed football memorabilia courtesy of West Ham United Football Club.
Richard Gooding OBE, Chief Executive of London City Airport said “As Newham is one of the host boroughs of the 2012 Olympic this should inspire some really creative artwork. I really look forward to seeing this years entries”.
Entries will be shortlisted for display in London City Airport’s terminal throughout the month of April 2009.
