Look to the skies for a big surprise at the London City Airport Fun Day

The London City Airport Fun Day is definitely not to be missed. Taking place on Saturday 4 July from 2.30pm until 4.30pm, the afternoon will be jam packed with fun things to see, do and experience for the entire family to enjoy. One of the biggest highlights of the day is the amazing air show. The air show will run from 15:15 until 16:00 and again from 16:30 until 17:15. The air show will see the return of some old favourites taking to the East London skies along with some new dynamic displays.
The sensational show will include the Hurricane XII Z5140, a World War 2 fighter aircraft. The Hurricane played a crucial role in the defence of England and will perform an unforgettable aerobatic display at the Fun Day.
The Swift Aerobatic glider is the strongest, loose aerobatic glider ever built, with an unparalleled roll rate. The engineless glider is towed into the air until it reaches release altitude. Once the glider is in position it is let loose to begin its incredible solo manoeuvres and to create coloured smoke patterns in the sky. Watch out for the landing as with no engine the pilot will only get one shot at getting it right!

Piloted by Carolyn Grace, a rare two seater Spitfire ML407 will perform a skilful array of aerobatic and formation stunts at the London City Airport keeping the crowds looking to the skies for more.

Using a 180hp engine, the Pitts Special aerobatic biplane will take to the skies at the Fun Day offering a display of stunning sequence tumbles and remarkable low level aerobatics.

Dennis Kenyon’s jaw dropping Aerobatic Helicopter Display is guaranteed to have you peeking through the gaps of fingers! An ex Royal Air Force fixed wing pilot, with over 30 years of experience, Dennis has performed daredevil stunts for many blockbuster films including Ridley Scott's Black Hawk Down and Goldeneye.

The CAP 232 is a premiere aerobatic aircraft which is considered to be the best aerobatic aircraft in the world. The Cap 232 is piloted by Richard Pickin from Bermondsey who learnt to fly at Biggin Hill when he was 15 and has won most UK major competitions over the years. He has accumulated 1500 hours total flying most of it upside down!
The Great War Display Team will recreate an exhilarating dog fight formation display using World War I replica aircraft. Four aircraft will tussle in the sky for control of the air. In the make believe fight bombs are dropped and aircraft are shot down departing the skies with trailing smoke.
Another welcomed return to the London City Airport Fun Day air show are the Guinot Wings Walkers.
An airport opening its doors for a community is unique, 22,000 visitors to last year’s Fun Day is incredible and London’s only air show is truly unmissable. For more information regarding the air show and the other great attractions at the London City Airport Fun Day 2009 visit www.funday2009.com
