Now in its fifteenth year, London City Airport’s annual Fun Day is not that far away and with the Air Show back by popular demand, promises to be the best one yet!
Taking place at the Royals Business Park, Newham Dockside on Saturday 2nd July 2011, from 1.30pm to 6pm, the event features the welcome return of the Air Show, which is sure to excite and thrill the audience as talented pilots showcase their death-defying stunts and tricks in the skies above the Airport’s runway.
The Fun Day is also the setting for the grand finale of ‘East London’s Got Talent’ when the four finalists will perform live, competing against each other for that prized first place position.
A whole host of other fun-filled activities and entertainment mean that there’s something for everyone and with the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics Games next year, all activities are linked to the theme, ‘Sport in the Community’. With free entry for all visitors, there really is no excuse not to take advantage of this fantastic family day out.
Travelling to the event could not be easier, as all the fun takes place directly opposite London City Airport, on the docks next to the Connaught Bridge. The nearest train station is Royal Albert DLR which is a mere 200m away and is the recommended transport of choice as car parking is limited.
The annual summer event, which attracts well over 15,000 visitors every year, is one of the largest annual community events in East London. All proceeds raised from the day are donated to Richard House Children's Hospice, which provides care and respite to children with life-limiting conditions.
