Isle of Man air links resume

09/05/2012

British Airways is to resume flights from the Isle of Man with a new direct air link to the heart of London.

The airline will operate a daily week day service from Ronaldsway to London City Airport from May 28. This will increase to three flights each week day plus one on Saturdays and two on Sundays from June 25.

The new service will give customers easy access to the commercial centre of London and also allow them to connect with 22 British Airways destinations served from the Docklands airport, including Frankfurt, Zurich and New York.

Benefits of flying to and from London City Airport include the ease of access to Canary Wharf, just 12 minutes away, and the City of London, a short journey by Docklands Light Railway direct from the airport.

British Airways also offer a minimum check in time at London City of just 15 minutes for customers with hand luggage and 20 minutes with checked in luggage.

Luke Hayhoe, British Airways general manager commercial, said: “We are delighted that British Airways will be back in the Isle of Man with the launch of this new important air link from the Island. Our schedule means that customers can enjoy a full business day with conveniently timed flights direct to the heart of the capital or they can easily connect with our onward services.”

Isle of Man airport director, Ann Reynolds said: “I know that Island residents, will be very happy to see British Airways back on the Isle of Man, especially on such a vital business link to the City of London.”

Editors note

London City Airport (LCY) is the only airport situated in London itself, just two miles from the site of the 2012 Olympic Games, three miles from Canary Wharf, seven miles from the City and 10 miles from London’s West End – linked to all via the LCY Docklands Light Railway station. Welcoming over 3 million passengers in 2011, LCY is not only uniquely convenient, but offers a uniquely rapid transit, through check-in and security to the departure lounge and gate, of around 20 minutes. 12 airlines fly out of LCY, serving over 40 destinations including Dublin, Madrid and Geneva – the latest additions for 2012 are Aberdeen, Venice, Basel, Mahon, Angers and Quimper. LCY is on Twitter (@londoncityairport) and further information about flights, destinations and airport services can be found at www.londoncityairport.com.
