London City Airport welcomed its 30 millionth passenger, yesterday. The outstanding milestone was reached when passenger, Dr. Paul Thind, departed on flight LX457 to Zurich at 12.45.
To mark the occasion, London City Airport and Swiss International Airlines (SWISS) hosted a celebration in the gate lounge for all passengers travelling to Zurich on this flight. The lucky 30 millionth passenger received a special treat, a bottle of champagne, along with a pair of return business class tickets to Switzerland from London City Airport, courtesy of SWISS.
Richard Gooding OBE, Chief Executive of London City Airport commented: “Reaching the 30 million mark is a significant milestone for the Airport. We are pleased to commemorate this with SWISS, who have been an important contributor to the growth of the Airport since 1992, with over 3.5 million passengers travelling to Switzerland.”
Gregor Koncilja, SWISS UK and Ireland Country Manager said: “This is an incredible achievement for City Airport, and one that SWISS has fully supported, with 3.5 million passengers flying from City with SWISS since 2002. We are delighted that the 30 millionth London City Airport passenger is flying with SWISS today, and look forward to welcoming millions more passengers aboard SWISS in the future from this well situated and successful airport.”
