Ten lucky winners were treated to a VIP night at The O2 Arena to watch the all singing; all dancing smash hit TV show Glee come to life on stage, courtesy of London City Airport.
The local students were from Drew Primary School and Britannia Village Primary School. Britannia Village Primary ran a competition asking students to create their own songs. Competition was tough, but the winners were selected based on originality, lyrics and overall presentation. Drew Primary students were voted for by teaching staff on who were the most improved students in a range of subjects throughout the year.
The winners were hosted by the Airport’s Community Team and were treated to a night filled with hit songs from Glee including ‘Don’t Stop Believing’ and ‘Jesse’s Girl’.
London City Airport has worked alongside both local Primary Schools for many years and run similar competitions as part of its Education Excellence programme. Elizabeth Hegarty, CSR Manager at London City Airport said: “The aim of the programme is to encourage local students to work hard and achieve their goals while opening their eyes to a possible career at the Airport”.
Kiel Richardson, Assistant Head Teacher at Britannia Village Primary School said:
‘The students had a great time, loving every minute, and felt very lucky to see this amazing sold out show. Thanks again for this wonderful opportunity; London City Airport has made a few dreams come true!’
