The work experience programme consists of a five day placement which will run throughout the months of March and November. There is a variety of departments to choose from which include;
The key functions of the Customer Service Centre team are as follows:
Anyone interested in a placement with the Customer Service Centre team must be well presented and prepared to approach their work in a professional manner. They must have a passion for working with people and delivering a high standard of service all times.
The key functions of the finance team are as follows:
This placement would suit someone with a genuine desire to learn about the finance industry and the different processes involved in it.
The key functions of the Continuous Improvement team are as follows:
Working across London City Airport to improve;
This placement would suit someone with a keen desire to learn and understand how different key departments operate within London City Airport as well as the processes that have been designed to improve the service for both staff and passengers.
The key functions of the Aelia Tax and Duty Free shop are as follows:
This placement will involve constant face to face interaction with airport passengers. The placement would require someone with a confident but professional approach. Someone with strong communication skills and an eye for detail would also be well suited to this placement.
The key functions for the Health and Safety team are as follows:
This kind of placement would suit anyone with a thorough interest in health and safety practices. Someone with a keen eye for detail and strong organisational skills would be well suited for this role.
The key functions for the Jet Centre team are as follows:
Similar to the Customer Service Centre, Jet Centre must ensure that they present themselves in a clean professional way all times. A confident attitude and the ability to communicate effectively is a must. A strong commitment to delivering high quality customer service is also very important to this placement.
The programme has been designed to give local people the opportunity to come to their airport to strengthen their employment and education skills which should improve their chances of gaining employment in the future whether, in the aviation industry, or elsewhere.

The airport’s agreement with the local council requires it to provide one week work experience to residents from the following London boroughs:
Unfortunately London City Airport is only able to offer placements to students aged 16 years and over at this time. This is due to the operational nature of the placement and the insurance matters as a result of this. Please do contact us again once you have reached 16 years of age.
