It might be just a short hop over the Channel from the British mainland, but Guernsey’s white-sand beaches could have been plucked straight out of a Caribbean catalogue. Outside of St Peter Port, the charming pastel-shaded capital, the island is a bucolic paradise. Ramble over cliffs carpeted with wildflowers, watch colourful sailing boats bobbing in sheltered coves and sample the locally caught fruits de mer in Michelin-starred restaurants. If you fancy exploring further afield, the glitzy boutiques of Jersey and Sark’s car-free countryside are within easy day-trip distance.
