With its UNESCO-listed Old Town and steel-and-glass financial sector, Luxembourg City dominates the south of Europe’s smallest sovereign state. Walk the Chemin de la Corniche promenade along the 17th-century ramparts to breathe in faint-making views over the Royal Palace and the gorges carved by the Alzette and Pétrusse rivers. Exquisite restaurants and upscale bars give the city a modern, metropolitan feel, but the Tolkien-esque river meadows of the Moselle Valley and the ancient forests of Mullerthal are only ever a short drive away.
