The animated little town of Quimper is the capital of Brittany’s Finistère, a region of rugged inlets, long beaches and strong traditions. The town itself is located at the confluence of two rivers, and the various bridges that criss-cross the water are made all the more picturesque by the Gothic cathedral, half-timbered houses and pitched slate roofs that shape the skyline. There are some princely restaurants for visitors to enjoy too, many of them focusing on fresh seafood.
