The airport is passionate about helping local causes and participates in a variety of volunteering activities, from skills sharing events with the LCY Finance and Marketing team, to supporting initiatives which help the elderly and vulnerable.
Overall 15% of airport staff took part in at least one volunteering activity and donated a total of 2333 volunteering hours.
LCY organises an annual Volunteering Forth night to celebrate National Volunteers’ week in partnership with ELBA.
In 2016, LCY also ran its most succesful Volunteering Forthnight to date with 51 employees donating their time and skills to 7 projects across East London. This included activities at:
- Barking Food Bank
- Core Landscapes
- Rosetta Arts Centre
- Buxton School
- First Avenue Urban Wilderness
- Neigbours in Poplar
