LCY Future Prospects is a pre-16 career development programme in which East London youth can obtain 130 hours of work experience at the airport and before they finish secondary school.
Future Prospects is a partnership between the airport and 15BillionEBP.
The programme consists of three difference stages:
- Stage 1: Career Insights Visits: a guided tour with the opportunity to see and speak to airport staff from various departments.
- Stage 2: Work Experience: a 5 day placement in one of the airport’s departments: Customer Service Centre, Ramp Services, Private Jet Centre and Health & Safety department.
- Stage 3: Mentoring: students are matched with a staff member form the airports Corporate Team who will mentor them for the duration of a year.

To encourage local residents to apply for vacancies at the airport, we actively engage with local jobseekers, recruitment organisations, schools, colleges, universities and other supporting organisations in East London. We work with individuals and groups in a variety of activities, from attending local careers fairs to organising intensive workshops.
