London City Airport Noise and Track Keeping System
Quieter and new generation aircraft
LCY encourages its airlines to update their aircraft fleets to include more new generation, cleaner, quieter aircraft. These new generation aircraft are more fuel efficient, meaning that in addition to reducing their noise and carbon impact, they open up a wider range of potential destinations.
The new aircraft stands being constructed as part of the City Airport Development Programme (CADP) are being built to allow more new generation aircraft use LCY. The first new generation aircraft (Airbus A220-100) started operations at the airport with Swiss Air Lines in 2017. Since then, the Embraer E190-E2 and E195-E2 have also been certified to operate at the airport.
