London City Airport has launched a new £75,000 Community Fund to support local charities and organisations that represent inclusive and diverse communities across East London.
COVID-19 – Please note due to the current situation LCY Community Fund Board of Trustees decided to bring the second round of Grants for 2020 forward, to support our local community during this difficult time. The remaining £39,000 has been topped up by London City Airport and £50,000 has been distributed to local Foodbanks please see full details here.
Community Fund Grants process will go back to normal in 2021. Applications received for June 2020 will be put forward to 30th October 2020 deadline, which will be announced in early February 2021.
Grants ranging from £300 to £3,000 are available for charities and not-for-profit organisations to enable significant and positive change for communities near London City Airport.
This Fund builds on the success of the 30th anniversary £30K Community Fund, where 15 recipients received grants up to £3,000. Read more about it here.

How it works
Applications are considered twice a year by a board of Trustees from London City Airport and representatives from the local community, as well as an independent chair. This means that with great local insight and expertise, the Trustees evaluate applications using their knowledge to ensure the greatest possible benefit goes to the community.
To qualify for any of the available Grant you will have to be a charity or not for profit organisation and your project is expected to adhere to the following criteria’s; London City Airports’ community focus areas to improve the quality of life in local communities by either:
- Building stronger, safer and healthier communities
- Creating more sustainable and greener communities
- Raising aspirations of East Londoners
- Creating pathways into employment
Applications from only the local area are eligible for consideration, please see list below:
- Barking & Dagenham, Bexley, Epping Forest District Council
- Greenwich, Hackney, Havering, Newham, Lambeth, Lewisham
- Redbridge, Southwark, Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest

Prospective recipients can submit their application from 22nd May 2019 and these will remain open on an ongoing basis, with the board of Trustees meeting twice a year to assess and make award decisions.
