Colourful half-timbered buildings lean precariously over the cobbled streets in medieval Quimper, the heart of Brittany's Finistère region.
Built at the confluence of the rivers Odet and Steïr, this delightful city features floral bridges, peaceful squares and a mighty Gothic cathedral. Through its museums, festivals, cuisine and customs, Quimper honours and preserves traditional Breton culture.
Arriving at Quimper-Bretagne Airport
Quimper–Bretagne Airport lies about four miles (6km) south-west of the city in the nearby town of Pluguffan. British Airways operates direct seasonal flights from London City Airport that take just over one hour.
A shuttle service operates on a reservation-only basis from Monday to Friday, with bookings required the day before travel (before 1700) by calling 00 33 2 98 95 97 92. The bus serves Quimper railway station and Rue du Parc just to the south of the main tourist centre.
Four taxi firms operate from the concourse outside the airport terminal. Journeys into Quimper take about 15–20 minutes, traffic pending. Or, if you’re planning to explore the region, you can hire a car with LCY to pick up at Quimper airport.
For your return flight, the departures area of Quimper airport offers shops, a bar and restaurant Le Tarmac. British Airways passengers are required to check in 40 minutes prior to departure.
