From experienced sportspeople to first time daredevils, there’s a multitude of water sports that you can get involved with on the River Tay. Kayaking, water skiing, windsurfing, and sailing are among the sports on offer at various locations around the river. If getting this active isn’t quite your thing but you still fancy adventuring out on the waters, there’s lots of other things to do, including going on a boat tour to spot bottlenose dolphins and seals. Don’t forget to take your camera ( just be careful not to drop it in!).

Whizz around the many cycling tracks woven throughout the Dundee countryside and experience the sights and scenes of the city. Whatever your style of cycling entails, Sidlaw Hills just outside of Dundee is the main place to go for cyclists. Road, track, time trial, mountain bike, cyclocross and duathlon cycling tracks can be accessed by the public for the ultimate outdoor adventure. There’s also the 26 mile Green circular route for more casual cyclists - signposted with places of interest throughout, this route is perfect for a gentle bike ride around Dundee. If you don’t own a bike, no problem, there are lots of bike hire services around the city!
Known as a walkable city, Dundee has a wide range of walking tours that cover topics ranging from history to photography.Bright Dundee offers a dark history tour, focusing on old artefacts and buildings around the city and some of their more mysterious past. For budding creatives, the Dundee Photographers group will guide you around the city to discover the perfect picture perfect locations to fill up your photo album (is that even a thing anymore?!). If you’re more of a free spirit, then head to Scot Free tours where you can do an audio tour so you can take your time exploring the city. That way you can even have a coffee and cake break (or two) in one of the many places to eat in the middle!
A walk in the park
If you’re looking for a more casual day out with the family, Camperdown Country Park is the perfect place to head to. Children will love the woodland trails, adventure playground and Camperdown Wildlife park on offer - educate, explore, and then tire out the little ones all in one day! For the golfers among you, there’s also an 18 hole championship course and a pitch and putt course to have both a lovely stroll and a bit of sporting activity within the park.
