Cityjet splash the cash for new fleet

Cityjet are renewing their fleet after leasing 25 new Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft in a €900 million (£668 million) deal.

The Sukhoi Superjet is an Italian-Russian built plane with Cityjet placing a firm order for 15 with an option for a further 10. It will take delivery of the first four in 2016 and a further 11 in 2017.

Cityjet are the first European airline to use the Sukhoi Superjet, and executive chairman Pat Byrne said: “This is a very versatile new generation jet which will fulfil our requirements with a capability to operate at smaller airports such as our hub at London City Airport and offer significant advantages in fuel efficiency, emissions ratings and noise reduction.”
