Monday September 7th to Sunday September 13th, was London City Airport’s (LCY) busiest ever as 93,996 passengers came through our airport, beating the 91,826 set in March.
LCY was also just 29 passengers short of breaking the record for the most in a single day as on Thursday September 10th 17,446 passed through. The record for a single day stands at 17,474.
Holidaymakers heading off to the likes of Florence and Ibiza ensured LCY enjoyed its busiest ever summer, with a 20% increase in passenger numbers in July and August compared to 2014.
Holidaymakers heading to Europe this year were able to take advantage of the pound’s eight-year high against the Euro and also some soaring temperatures - Madrid enjoyed a new all-time high of 39.9 °C in early July.
