New fuel farm arrangements facilitate best price fuel for airline customers
London City Airport (LCY) has completed the purchase of a fuel farm from BP for an undisclosed sum. The facility is one of two situated at the airport, supplying fuel to LCY’s 10 airline customers.
Until now, the airlines have purchased fuel from BP or from Shell, the operator of the second LCY fuel facility. Henceforth, London City Airport will be running the farm with an ‘open’ policy, allowing all fuel suppliers to tender for business. Q8Aviation has reached agreement with the airport to supply fuel, and LCY is in talks with a further four suppliers – although there is no limit on the number of companies that can supply fuel through the LCY facility.
Simon Potts, Director of Business Improvement at London City Airport, believes the new arrangement adds value to the airport and to its customers: “This is another key service that we have arranged and are providing to our customers, demonstrating our commitment to them and to their businesses. The new fuel farm arrangement stimulates fuel supply competition which should help our customers achieve fuel prices which are advantageous to them.”
The LCY fuel farm will be run by ASIG on behalf of the airport and is currently open for business to airlines serving London City Airport.
