London City Airport celebrated the enterprising talents of young people in East London last week at the University of East London’s E-Factor Competition Final.
A sponsor of the competition since 2005, London City Airport joined the voting panel to select the winners of this highly-contested enterprise competition.
The winner, Owen Morgan, founder of company “Cambridge-Solar”, fought of stiff competition from more than 300 applicants to the competition, crafting a business plan that wowed the judges and winning £10,000 start-up cash.
Owen and the runners up to the competition will be supported by UEL’s Knowledge Dock expert team to develop and run their new enterprises using their cash winnings.
Martin Chan, Communications Manager for UEL Knowledge Dock said “The sponsorship provided by London City Airport helps us deliver a first class competition. In this specific case, London City Airport’s financial contribution will help pay for the winner’s one year tenure at the Petchey Centre for Entrepreneurship located at the UEL Docklands campus, where we would hope to see the winner rapidly develop their business with the wide range of business support they will receive.”
Sponsorship of the E-Factor competition forms just one part of the ongoing partnership between London City Airport and the University of East London. Projects include student sponsorships, lectures, graduate assessment days, work placements and career guidance.
London City Airport delivers a comprehensive education excellence programme, to ensure that local students have access to the skills and knowledge required to succeed in a career at the airport.
