SkyWork Airlines will offer a connection between London City Airport, on the one hand, and the Swiss industrial centre of Basel and the Swiss capital of Bern, on the other. Service will start July 19, 2015, provided official authorisations and airport slots are granted on time.
SkyWork Airlines will cover the route between London and Basel-Bern with an early-morning flight Monday through Friday and an evening flight on Sunday. Passengers travelling to and from Bern will have a short stopover at EuroAirport Basel/Mulhouse. Starting August 31, 2015, SkyWork Airlines will operate flights on workdays at both ends of the day (morning and evening) as well as once a day on Saturday and on Sunday. The Bern-based carrier will use a Saab 2000 leased from Etihad Regional (Darwin) to service this route.
Swiss dropped its connection between Basel and London City last weekend. The Bern-based regional carrier SkyWork Airlines will now continue the tradition of a Swiss carrier connecting London City with Basel.
SkyWork Airlines currently flies directly from London Southend to Bern. The times in this timetable will be adjusted later to meet requirements.
The regional carrier SkyWork Airlines has its home base in Bern and began regularly scheduled flights in 2009. At the beginning of July 2014, Martin Ina¨bnit was named CEO of SkyWork Airlines and he also serves as the president of the company’s board of directors.
The carrier has 13.2 million Swiss francs in share capital and about 110 employees. The five Dornier 328 aircraft in use have been owned by SkyWork Asset Management, a subsidiary of SkyWork Airlines, since the end of 2014.
Under the current summer timetable, SkyWork Airlines serves 18 destinations from its base in Bern. Stepped-up sales activities in the charter segment are bearing fruit.
