Get ready to check in online or in person, tag your bags and take off
Follow these guidelines to get your trip off to a smooth start. You can check in online or in person up to 2 hours before your scheduled departure time.
Check in online
Save time and check in via your airline’s website – you can usually do this 24-48 hours before your flight departs. You can print your boarding pass at home or download a digital pass to board using your mobile phone.
Check in at the airport
Check-in desks on the ground floor of our main terminal open 2 hours before your scheduled departure time. Please confirm the latest check-in time for your flight with the airline and allow plenty of time to get to (and through) the airport.
Self-service check-in kiosks are outside the airport entrance, next to the DLR station. Passengers for LOT Polish Airlines can get bag tags here too.
Lufthansa and Swiss passengers can use the Express Bag Drop in the middle of our main terminal.
British Airways has a dedicated self-service bag tag area, just inside the main terminal entrance.
After tagging your bag, just go to one of the Bag Drop desks. The whole process usually only takes a minute!
If you plan to check in bigger items, such as ski equipment, check your airline’s guidelines.
Overnight Bag Drop
Sleep tight, travel light! Bid adieu to luggage worries with British Airways’ overnight service, available between 18.00–20.30 for BA flights departing the next day on or before 09:00.
