Travelling through security

London City Airport is committed to processing passengers as quickly as possible. Passengers are advised to allow additional time for security processing, particularly during peak times. We appreciate your understanding.

Baggage rules vary between airlines and the type of ticket purchased. You are advised to check baggage rules with your airline before arriving at London City Airport.

Be prepared when you reach security

All cabin baggage will be X-ray screened.

Place laptops and large electrical items separately in a tray after removing outer casing or sleeve.

Put coins, keys, mobile phones and other small items in your coat or hand baggage. Place your hand baggage and coat into a tray.

Place any liquid items, correctly bagged, into the tray.

Pushchairs are subject to hand search and walking aids will be X-ray screened.

Wheelchairs will be thoroughly searched.

Electronic devices

In line with new UK Government requirements, passengers on some routes into and out of the UK may be required to show that electronic devices in their hand luggage are powered up or face not being allowed to bring the device onto the aircraft. Passengers flying into or out of the UK are therefore advised to make sure electronic devices being carried in their hand luggage are charged before they travel. For more information click here.

Items that resemble prohibited items

Any items that resemble prohibited items will not be permitted; these include but are not exclusive to toy guns, replica and imitation firearms or perfume or aftershave bottles that resemble grenades or other firearms or weapons.

Restricted fragrance (this is not an exhaustive list):

Wanted’ is not prohibited and is allowed to be carried in hand baggage, however is subject to the 100ml restriction. ‘Spicebomb’ ( in a clear glass bottle) is not prohibited and is allowed in hand baggage, however is subject to the 100ml restriction. ‘Spicebomb’ (in a black opaque bottle) is considered to be prohibited and may not be allowed in hand baggage.
