Proud to provide employment for East Londoners
Having a high proportion of employee from our local community lets us reflect the area’s vibrancy and diversity as we welcome people from around the world.
As of 2022 we employed 2100 people onsite, nearly 80% of whom live locally – and 39% of our new recruits came from Newham.
Since 2009 our local employment initiatives have recruited hundreds of Newham residents for airport roles. In 2022 a total of 233 local people joined us to work in areas including customer services, ramp services, retail, baggage and aviation security.
In 2022 we welcomed 400 students from East London schools to our STEM in Aviation event, one of the education programmes we run to help address the UK’s rising STEM skills shortage.
