Meet the board
London City Airport is owned by a consortium made up of AIMCo, OMERS, Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan and Wren House Infrastructure.
Representatives from each organisation sit on the airport’s board, taking responsibility for setting our long-term strategy and overseeing performance to make sure we meet our objectives.
Mel Ewell | Chairman of the Board
Mel was appointed Chair of London City Airport in December 2023. Mel’s career spans 35 years, with 15 spent as CEO of the leading UK public and regulated services provider Amey. Under his tenure he successfully guided Amey through its sale to Ferrovial before retiring in 2016. He previously held a number of senior management positions for TNT International, Xerox and ADI Group.
Mel is a Non-Executive Director of High Speed Two (HS2) Limited, SIG plc and The Manufacturing Technology Centre Limited. He is also a Trustee of the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
He studied at Kingston University where he gained a BSc (Hons) in Geography and subsequently an honorary doctorate.
Eric Machiels | Director, OMERS
Eric joined OMERS Infrastructure’s London office in October 2017. As Managing Director, Asset Management, his main focus is to drive value growth within OMERS portfolio companies at the board and senior executive level, while drawing on his prior executive background in turning around and growing private equity-owned companies. He also supports the OMERS transaction teams at the asset acquisition stage.
Prior to this position, Eric served for eight years as CEO of Infinis Energy, a UK renewable energy company owned by Terra Firma Capital Partners, which joined the London FTSE-250 following its IPO. He also held executive turnaround positions with two portfolio companies owned by Clayton, Dubilier & Rice, the US private equity firm.
Eric has a Licentiate in Law from the University of Leuven (Belgium), and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Luca Lupo | Director, OMERS
Luca joined OMERS Infrastructure in November 2022. He is a Managing Director and is based in London, where he leads the investment in transportation and community infrastructure assets across Europe. Prior to joining OMERS, Luca was a Managing Director at Morgan Stanley in the Transportation & Infrastructure team in the Investment Banking department.
Luca holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Engineering with a specialisation in Finance from Politecnico di Milano, where he has also been a lecturer of Corporate Finance.
Greg Pestrak | Director, Wren House Infrastructure
Greg is a Managing Director at Wren House Infrastructure, where his focus is on Asset Management across the portfolio.
Prior to joining Wren House in July 2017, Greg was a Partner in KPMG’s Global Strategy Group based in the UK, where he was the Infrastructure lead since 2009. In this role, he worked with Infrastructure investors, leading value creation reviews with management teams across a number of global portfolio companies.
Greg has over 17 years consulting experience, working with Investors and Corporates to drive performance improvement. Prior to his career in consulting, he worked in Finance with Rothschild Asset Management and Jardine Fleming Asset Management in Hong Kong and the UK.
Greg holds a Sloan Fellowship Masters in Management from the London Business School and B.A. from The University of King’s College, Canada.
Naser AlAujan | Director, Wren House Infrastructure
Naser joined Wren House in 2015 and is a Director involved in the origination, execution and asset management of investments. Prior to joining Wren House, Naser worked for Asiya Investments in Hong Kong and Kuwait, as well as for Wafra Investment Advisory Group in New York.
Naser holds an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and graduated Cum Laude from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.
David Stanton | Director, Ontario Airports Investments
David has over 25 years’ global experience in aviation strategy, finance and operations. He is Co Head and Managing Director for Ontario Airports Investments Limited, a wholly controlled subsidiary of OTPP, overseeing and managing OTPPs airport investments.
In addition to LCY, he sits on the Board of Directors for Birmingham Airport and for Copenhagen Airport, where he is Deputy Chairman as well as Chairman of the Audit and Risk Management Committee. At LCY he is Chairman of the Health Safety Security & Environmental Committee.
Prior to this, David was a Board Member of Bristol and Brussels Airports as well as HS1, where he was Chair of the Audit and Risk Management Committee. For 10 years he was Corporate Development Director BBA Aviation plc, and before that had roles with Macquarie and SG Hambros. He is an FCA having qualified as a Chartered Accountant with PwC in 1994.
Jamie Adam | Director, Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan
Jamie Adam, CFA, joined Ontario Teachers' in 2006 and is a member of the Europe, Middle East and Africa Infrastructure team. He was involved in numerous transactions including the acquisitions of Essbio, Brussels Airport, Copenhagen Airports and Sydney Desalination Plant and the newly acquired Westerleigh Crematorium.
Jamie currently sits on the board of London City and Westerleigh. Before joining Ontario Teachers' he worked in private equity in Toronto. He earned a BA (Honours) in Political Science and an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business, both at the Western University in London, Ontario, Canada.
Ahmed Mubashir | Director, AIMCo
Ahmed Mubashir joined AIMCo in a direct investment role in 2011. In his role as Managing Director and Head of Infrastructure Europe and Asia, Ahmed leads the origination, execution and management of infrastructure investments across Europe and Asia out of AIMCo's London office.
Ahmed serves on the Boards of multiple investee companies. He has an MBA from the University of Alberta and a Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering from McGill University. He is also a CFA Charterholder.
Ross Clemmow | Director, AIMCo
Ross Clemmow is CEO of HomeServe EMEA, a portfolio company of Brookfield Infrastructure. Prior to joining HomeServe, Ross fulfilled the dual role of CEO of WiggleCRC, the international online sports retailer, and Managing Director at Bridgepoint, where he was responsible for improving digital capability across Bridgepoint’s portfolio.
Prior to Bridgepoint, Ross held senior roles in digital retail with Argos and Debenhams, and in consulting with Bain & Company. Ross started his career at Procter & Gamble in marketing. He has a Masters degree in Engineering from Imperial College London.
