London City Airport's £75,000 Community Fund is supporting local charities and organisations that represent inclusive and diverse communities across East London.

Grants ranging from £300 to £3,000 are available for charities and not-for-profit organisations to enable significant and positive change for communities near London City Airport.

This Fund builds on the success of the 30th anniversary £30K Community Fund, where 15 recipients received grants up to £3,000. Read more about it here.

London City Airport are pleased to have awarded Grants totalling over £400,000 to 120+ local charities and not-for-profit organisations, since launching the Fund in May 2019, (see video) showcasing some of the projects previously awarded). This includes making available an extra £10k (total of £50k) to support local foodbanks, please see more info here.

The Community Fund has awarded £86,000 in 2023 to 20 organisations including Salaam Peace, West Silvertown Community Foundation, Power House for Women and Helping Disabilities Trus. Please see press release for the full list of Grantees in 1st tranche and 2nd tranche of 2023.

How it works

Applications are considered twice a year by a board of Trustees from London City Airport and representatives from the local community, as well as an independent chair. This means that with great local insight and expertise, the Trustees evaluate applications using their knowledge to ensure the greatest possible benefit goes to the community.

Funding Criteria

To qualify for any of the available Grant you will have to be a charity or not for profit organisation and your project is expected to adhere to the following criteria’s; London City Airports’ community focus areas to improve the quality of life in local communities by either:

  1. Building stronger, safer and healthier communities
  2. Creating more sustainable and greener communities
  3. Raising aspirations of East Londoners
  4. Creating pathways into employment

Applications from only the local area are eligible for consideration, please see list below:

  • Barking & Dagenham, Bexley, Epping Forest District Council
  • Greenwich, Hackney, Havering, Newham, Lambeth, Lewisham
  • Redbridge, Southwark, Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest

Timings

Prospective recipients can submit their application throughout the year on an ongoing basis, with the board of Trustees meeting twice a year to assess and award grants to successful applicants. If you would like to apply for the Grant, please ensure you submit the application prior to the deadline to be considered for that tranche.
