London, UK – 21 February, 2024
Aurigny has today confirmed the launch of twice daily flights to London City Airport (LCY) from Guernsey.
The flag carrier of Guernsey will commence services to and from LCY on 31 March 2024, with one-way fares starting from only £49.99.
The route will offer passengers enhanced connectivity from Guernsey to over 30 leisure and business destinations across the UK and rest of Europe via London’s most centrally located airport.
Passengers will also benefit from Aurigny’s interline agreement with British Airways CityFlyer (BACF), meaning they can enjoy seamless connecting flights to BA’s extensive network including Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin and Zurich as well as leisure escapes to Florence, Ibiza, Malaga and Nice.
Guernsey is less than an hour away from London and offers city dwellers a chance to escape for a weekend away to recharge their batteries. The island is culturally rich with award-winning seafood restaurants, coastline walks and a unique history – featuring notable residents such as author Victor Hugo and artist Pierre-Auguste Renoir. Holidaymakers can also enjoy unspoilt, secluded beaches and up to 45 wild swimming spots.
Aurigny will operate a day and evening flight to and from LCY and three daily flights on a Friday.
Andrew Hodges, Chief Commercial Officer, London City Airport, said: “We’re thrilled to welcome Aurigny as the first new airline at London City Airport this year – demonstrating our commitment to growing as a business and offering new destinations to our passengers.”
Nico Bezuidenhout, CEO at Aurigny, said: “Guernsey is a tourist destination and an International Finance Centre. Many businesses on our beautiful island work closely with colleagues and clients in London and direct flights to London's beating heart will also benefit anyone who wishes to explore the city’s many attractions.”
Last year, LCY took steps to further improve its passenger experience, becoming the first major UK airport to enable travellers to pass through security without removing laptops and liquids from their hand luggage. Since the technology was introduced, average security times have reduced by 50%.
LCY is close to completing upgrades to its departure lounge, which features more seating, two new stylish dining experiences, duty free expansion, new retail space, more washrooms and a brand-new look and feel throughout.
In 2023, LCY was named London’s Best Airport by Which? magazine and cited as the most efficient airport in the UK by Time Out.
